Boarding the Flight to Calcutta

Well, the time has finally come to depart to Calcutta, India. Last night was the first time I could sense that this trip is actually going to happen.

Although I had read Susan Conroy’s book about her volunteer experience in Calcutta, spoken to Fr Paul and Deacon Mark about their volunteer work, and browsed through multiple websites on the topic… I know that I don’t really know what Calcutta will actually be like at all. The combination of the drastic climate change, the culture shock, and working with the poorest of the poor is an entirely new world for me.

A consistent theme of my prayer life recently when reflecting about Calcutta has been that the Father will be with me wherever I go. I trust completely in Him and His mission for me. The Father will father me along this journey to Calcutta.

This trip will also be a significant bonding experience with Joe Krump, who is coming to the Seminary of Christ the King in the fall.

We are currently in the line up ready to board our flight.

Joes thoughts — feeling some anxiety but excite my as well. I can’t wait to be in the air. This is the start of something new and exciting!

Off to Frankfurt Germany. Then we have a 4 hour layover. After arriving in New Delhi India, we will have a 6 hour layover (1am – 7am)… Hopefully we can get some sleep before arriving in Calcutta at 9am.

God bless you (Mother Theresa voice)!
