“Who Am I?” A Litany of Biblical Truths about Your Identity

After reading Dan Burke’s inspiration blog post, “Who am I?”, I decided to make my own list. Try saying these sentences out loud daily, especially the ones that you find most impactful right now. Memorize the Scripture verses too.

My Relationship with the Father:

“I am a child of God.”

  • “But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave power to become children of God” (John 1:12).

“I am a beloved son of the Father in whom He is well pleased.”

  • And a voice came from heaven, “You are my Son, the Beloved; with you I am well pleased” (Mark 1:11).

“I am the Father’s chosen one, holy and beloved.”

  • “As God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience” (Col 3:12).

“I have access to the Father’s heart.”

  • “for through him both of us have access in one Spirit to the Father” (Ephesians 2:18).

“I am fearfully and wonderfully made in the Father’s eyes.”

  • “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139: 13-14).

“I bring joy to the Father’s heart.”

  • “the Lord takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love” (Psalm 147:11).

“I am renewed in the Father’s love.”

  • “The Lord, your God, is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice over you with gladness, he will renew you in his love; he will exult over you with loud singing” (Zephaniah 3:17).

“I am consoled in all my afflictions by the God of all consolation”

  • “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all consolation, 4 who consoles us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to console those who are in any affliction with the consolation with which we ourselves are consoled by God” (2 Cor 1:3-4).

My Relationship with Jesus Christ:

“I am a friend of Christ.”

“I am a member of Christ’s Body.”

  • “Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it” (1 Corinthians 12:27).

“I have been chosen in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before Him in love.”

  • “just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love” (Ephesians 1:4).

“I have been blessed in Christ with every spiritual blessing.”

“I am alive with Christ.”

“I am a dwelling for the Holy Spirit
