The historical epic of the changing relationship between faith and reason over time. Faith and reason changed history.
Example of Adam with reason and Eve with faith. 3 stages – [1] set up [2] upset [3] reset
[1] set-up – perfect marriage of faith and reason. Adam and Eve are perfectly complementary. The two become one without losing their two-ness. Each has something the other does not have. Many truths known by faith that cannot be known by reason, and vice versa. And yet one, because all truth forms a whole. No possible contradiction – as no possible war between Adam and Eve.
[2] up-set – the fall. Faith falls first. Fell from God, then fell apart. They both blamed God. Then reason.
[3] reset – the restoration. Faith restored first. Mary’s fiat. Apologetics is marriage counseling for Adam and Eve. Bringing a broken couple back together.
God’s war is the war against the world, the flesh, and the devil. God wants you to make peace between neighbor, self, and God. The devil wants you to make peace with the world, the flesh, and the devil. The weapons of the devil’s war – Greed, lust, pride. The weapons of God’s war – Poverty, chastity, obedience
