“What is Lectio Divina?” by Fr. Josh Johnson

Lectio divina is a “really old-school” way to pray with Scriptures.

Here’s Fr. Josh’s simple 5 part outline for lectio divina

1. Reading

  • What does this Scripture text say in and of itself?

2. Meditate

  • What does this Scripture text say to me right now?
  • How is it speaking to my heart?

3. Pray

  • Speak to God about what you’ve read?
  • Ask Him for grace to live out what you’ve read.

4. Contemplate

  • A pure gift of grace from God, simply gazing at God
  • “just chill with the Lord”

5. Action

  • What kind of concrete action can I do based on this time of praying with the Lord?
